Specify the failure response

Loss of control signal, electrical power and instrument air are different events. A fail-open or fail-closed requirement needs to describe the complete valve and control assembly.

Ports and flow capacity

A pneumatic connection defines the interface. Flow data describes performance under stated conditions, and the installed sub-base or manifold can change the usable result.

Gaskets in storage

A shelf-life statement applies to a defined construction under stated conditions. Similar-looking gaskets can need different storage and release decisions.

SKF's sensing bearings

SKF’s September announcement names Sentea as its partner for SKF Core, bringing sensing, processing and communication together for the next generation of Insight bearings.

Cavitation or flashing?

Both phenomena begin with local vapor formation. Whether pressure then recovers above vapor pressure changes the damage mechanism and the available mitigation options.

Holding a vacuum grip

A suction cup can have adequate theoretical force yet fail to maintain vacuum on a porous or uneven part. Evaluate the load case and the leakage path together.

Barrier or buffer fluid?

The pressure relationship between the seal chamber and support fluid changes the intended leakage direction. Similar-looking reservoirs can therefore serve different sealing arrangements.

Aligning flexible couplings

A coupling can accommodate displacement while still benefiting from accurate shaft alignment. Read its operating envelope alongside the machinery installation requirements.

Choosing a valve seat

Seat material is only one part of ball-valve selection; fluid condition, operating temperature and the specified leakage test determine whether a configuration fits the service.

What sets cylinder speed?

Pressure affects the force available from a pneumatic cylinder, while airflow and exhaust restriction shape its motion; changing one regulator setting is not a complete speed-control strategy.

Seals through thermal cycles

A gasket that seals during assembly may lose effective joint loading in service, making relaxation data, temperature history and flange condition important parts of a leak investigation.

Finding bearing current paths

Electrical erosion damages bearing surfaces through discharge across the contact film, so a recurring failure needs an electrical-path investigation as well as mechanical inspection.
